Task 1 Composition
The best images have a definite structure and knowledge of the elements of composition.
Present 5- 8 images that represent lines and/or patterns.

My French doors leading into the kitchen from the entrance hall. Love the straight lines and the pretty light coming from the stained glass on the front door.

Cups on the kitchen shelf showing diagonal lines and repetitive pattern. Love the colours and tones in this picture.

Walk in wardrobe. Very simple with the diagonal lines and clothes in colour patterns. Like how the light is beaming in from the window on to the hat.

Looking up towards the bottom of my chandelier light. There are lines/beams of light as well the pattern of the star.

Another picture taken down below looking up at my wicker wall light. Lots of lines here and an abstract look.

My family portrait gallery wall – repetitive pattern and a nod to my love of taking photos!

My children’s toy lollipops – Diagonal lines and Patterns – like the abstract look of it.

This was taken through my kitchen cupboard door, it has a flower cut out pattern in it. You can see through to my glass windows and garden.
1.1, 2.1, 2.2 Using my Cannon SlR with a zoom lens 24-85mm I could then zoom into different areas within my house where I could see patterns of lines and repetition. Keeping on AV priority of F3.5 I could then make sure the pattern pops out when I focused on it with more of a background blur. As there is a lot of light in my house I could keep a wide aperture and ISO of 200.
3.1,3.2 Using the zoom lens really helped with this particular assignment, for instance looking up to my light shade I needed to really zoom in to see the abstract lines and patterns. I loved how the light created shadows of patterns on the ceiling. Using the zoom lens too helped me get at trickier angles to focus on the lines or pattern. I kept at an AV priority, however maybe I could have played with this more as well as the shutter speed to delve more in to the abstract patterns. Due to being isolated at home with covid it was a challenge to see how many lines and patterns I could find, however the more abstract you go the more you could discover.
4.1 I made sure I used a camera strap so I didn’t drop my equipment and as I would get in to a tricky angle or climb up to something, I took extra care of where I was stepping or standing.
